Solange Castro Belcher

Solange Castro Belcher was born and raised in Berkeley, California. After graduating from Berkeley High School, she attended Yale University where she studied English Literature and playwriting. After college, she moved to Los Angeles and, over the years has, literally, worked at hundreds of different jobs, ranging from playing the maid in Oliver Stone's The People vs. Larry Flynt, to producing a web-based ping pong game for Nestle's Butterfinger.

Solange credits her two year stint as a stand-up comic in Los Angeles' thriving open mike comedy scene (where she met the likes of the talented Ms. Maria Bamford and many other working entertainment professionals) with teaching her everything she knows about comic timing and writing jokes.

Solange began writing "Stella's" blog as a way to promote the film, but soon found it took on a life of it's own - especially, after a friend insisted that she end each entry with "Just for today..." While Stella's blogging regularity has waxed and waned over the last few years (especially once she started salsa dancing), it continues to serve as a great public notebook for ideas and jokes. Solange has also completed a feature length screenplay of "Stella's Search for Sanity," and, most recently, a non-fiction memoir about salsa dancing, "Salsa Geek." Solange lives in Los Angeles where she spends way too much time dancing.
