"Stella's Search for Sanity" is a farcical comedy about one woman's search for the perfect therapist. Stella, a freakishly positive, yet, earnest young woman, is committed to the therapeutic "process." Unfortunately, Stella's ability to judge the character of her therapists rivals only her limited awareness of her environment and herself. Stella's consciousness vacillates between innocent denial and hopeless cluelessness as she reflects on her history of creepy therapists, her alcoholic father, and her current therapist, Lynn, who fills Stella's sessions with stories about her own fabulous life. Stella pontificates with new age rhetoric directly to the camera while "working" at her temp job where she spends the majority of time either talking to herself or staring off into space.
However, Stella's Pollyana optimism begins to crack in the face of Lynn's narcissism and manipulation. This insidious relationship, coupled with her father's inappropriate comments, her boss' sarcasm, and her acting teacher, Bernard's, relentless abuse, all conspire to break the vicious cycle of co-dependency that Stella has read endlessly about in "Co-dependent No More," but fails to see in her own life. Shackled in denial, Stella must confront the forces of destruction that inhabit her life in order to find freedom. Will Stella remain victim to the world's anger and cynicism? Join Stella as she comes face to face with her fears on her journey towards sanity.
