The TMI Coffee Drinkers
I reunited with a very old friend from my early twenties who I’ll call Matt (cuz that’s his name). We hadn’t seen each other in ten years and so had a lot to catch up on.
“So, the sex with my last boyfriend was fantastic,” he seemingly bellowed throughout Peete’s coffee. The girl sitting nearby kept looking up at us.
“But there is a difference between ‘making love’ and having sex,” he added.
“So, how was the sex with your ex?”I don’t mind disclosing such information with Matt, who met several of my less choice boyfriends…but I didn’t intend to get this personal with the west side of Peete’s coffee in Berkeley. I tried to answer in a loud whisper.
“I don’t think I can ever go back to that Peete’s,” I told my friend later.
Despite my embarrassment, I loved hanging out with him. I’ll just be sure to do it in cities and coffee shops I don’t frequent.
Just for today, I can be part of the TMI Coffee Drinkers.
